We have compiled a list of
the most frequently asked questions we receive. In addition to
these answers we have a comprehensive Online Help tool, a
Tutorial and User Manuals available.
Please
contact our Exit-Writer Technical Support Team on 800-598-7258
with any questions or email us at
support@exitwriter.com.
Q: I installed Exit-Writer for the first time and now I am asked
for user name and password. What are those?
A:
Exit-Writer is distributed with a pre-set Administrative
Account. Double-click the Admin Name, so it appears in the user
Name field. The default password has been set to 123456. You
will be prompted to change it the first time you log in. The
same default password is assigned to every new user account you
create.
Q: We do not
want to require our users to enter a password each time they
access Exit-Writer. Because of the private location of our
computer within the department, our hospital policy regarding
HIPAA does not require us to do this. Can we disable the HIPAA
log-in requirement?
A: Yes, this is
a user option available in Exit-Writer.
Q: Our hospital requires
that we use the discharge component of the Hospital Information
System. Can I integrate Exit-Writer content into that system?
A: Yes,
Exit-Writer content has been successfully integrated in many
existing hospital systems (including Meditech). Our Technical
Support team is always available to assist with this process.
Q: Do you offer Medication
Reconciliation so that our facility will be JCAHO compliant?
A: Yes,
Exit-Writer includes JCAHO compliant Medication Reconciliation
Q: Do you charge extra for
your Rx / Prescription Writer, Medication Instructions and
Medication Reconciliation?
A: No, these
feature come standard with Exit-Writer.
Q: While we wish to comply
with JCAHO Medication Reconciliation requirements, doctors don’t
have time to enter patient home med information into the
Exit-Writer program as they are discharging patients. What do
you suggest?
A: Patients can
be “registered” into the Exit-Writer program by your triage
nurse from the new Patient Data screen (accessed from the
“Patient” button on the “Identify & Advise” screen). From this
screen, the triage nurse can enter all home medications. When
it is time for the patient to be discharged by the physician,
once the prescriptions are created within Exit-Writer, the
doctor can click on the “Home Medications” button, to review and
advise the patient whether to continue, change or stop each of
their home medications. A patient Medication Summary will be
printed along with the discharge instructions. This approach
meets all JCAHO requirements regarding medication
reconciliation.
(Note: Exit-Writer must be running on the network in order for
patient data entered on one computer to be seen on any other
computer.)
Q: Does Exit-Writer charge
it’s customers for some technical support calls like other
discharge instruction providers do?
A: No,
Exit-Writer never charges for technical assistance and is
committed to providing the best customer service available in
the industry.
Q: Does Exit-Writer crash
or have slow response times like other discharge instruction
systems?
A: No,
Exit-Writer’s unique data base design and document access
process is extremely stable and fast. You will not have the
